Updating...

Now that we are in elementary school I decided to mature the blog a bit as well as update our settings.  I can't believe they are getting so big!  I guess it makes sense.  N is about a foot shorter than me, and he's not even close to stopping growing!  HA!

We are happy for the weekend and I'm going to go enjoy it with them now! :)

Summer, Summer, Summer Time

The Fresh Prince's "Summer Time" always reminds me of the beginning of summer.  I am singing it now whole heartedly in denial that I am back at work and the kids will all be in school next week!  N is starting 2nd grade and A is starting Kindergarten, WOW!

Since summer really is almost over, I have collected some highlights from July and August to share.  Some of the photos are from near places, and some are far.  It's safe to say we put about 4000 miles on our van over the past 2 1/2 months.

Here is a gallery of our trips near and far...

Garlic Festival!  I was SHOCKED that N wanted to climb the wall.  This is a little below his highest point.  For a typical kid this is pretty good.  For a kid with SPD, this is FANTASTIC!!!

This was A's favorite one, she went on it 5 times!
 Cheese!
We also went to the Logger's Jubilee. This is a festival/competition held for individual loggers.  The competitive events ranged far and wide, I'm still not sure I understand it all, but it was very entertaining!
 Bed Races, they were MOVING!
Enjoying candy from the parade and keeping the sun off our faces... SO HOT!
We brought home a piece of round from a similar competition... fastest hot saw slice through a 24" diameter log... this guy, however is slicing through 24" diameter and about 2" wide... by hand!
This guy standing on a platform stuck into the side of the tree is 70 YEARS OLD!!!!  He could chop like the young guys and looked about 50!!!

The highlight souvenir was the round that we got from the tree topper competition.  It fell 80 feet from the sky as a topper speedily climbed up the trunk dangling a saw behind him and topped the tree... amazing.
N boiling in the hot sun!
We found this pelican on the Santa Barbara pier.  He wasn't shy... at all.  Kidletts were extremely weary of it.
 Monterey Bay Aquarium.
We spent a lot of time with the jellies.

Such a great summer!  As I look over these pictures, I am feeling blessed by the opportunities, experiences and memories we found.  I will probably come back to this post from time to time just to remember the feelings, smells and good times we had.

Fall, here we come!
Love,
M, J & Kidletts
